Promoting safety,unity & positive futures

London Tigers Safety Statement — London “Red vs Blue” Incidents
Issued: February 24, 2026
Recent social media trends and reports have highlighted the emergence of so-called “Red vs Blue” gatherings involving secondary school pupils across multiple London boroughs. These events have been organised online and promoted through social platforms, sometimes portraying competitive clashes between groups wearing red or blue clothing. Authorities are concerned that these meet-ups could lead to anti-social behaviour, confrontation, or violence if not managed carefully.

Risk Factors Identified
  • The trend originates from viral posts that encourage large, unregulated gatherings of young people, sometimes in public parks or around school grounds.
  • Police have reported increased calls and concerns related to these events and the potential for disorder when groups assemble spontaneously.
  • Even where participants have no violent intent, large groupings without supervision can quickly escalate, leading to injuries or public safety risks.
Police and Community Measures
The Metropolitan Police and local schools are taking active steps to reduce risk:
  • Officers are increasing visibility around affected areas at key times, especially school start/end times.
  • Police and school leaders are working together to communicate with students and parents about the dangers of unsanctioned gatherings.
  • Parents are being encouraged to monitor children’s whereabouts, discuss safe behaviour, and collect them after school when possible.
Guidance for the Public
👉 Children and Young People: Avoid attending unsupervised meet-ups promoted online. These are not approved events and can quickly become unsafe.
👉 Parents and Guardians: Talk with your children about online challenges and the importance of personal safety. Stay informed about planned events and notify schools or police if you have concerns.
👉 Community Members: Report suspicious gatherings or unsafe behaviour to the authorities and encourage calm dialogue among neighbours.
Overall Safety Context
While specific events such as the “Red vs Blue” trend are drawing attention, it’s important to remember that London remains a major global city with ongoing efforts by public services to maintain safety. Incidents of violent crime vary by neighbourhood and type, and authorities continue to work with communities to prevent harm and support safe environments for all residents.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

London Tigers Champion Open Conversations
During Mental Health Awareness Week

Supporting young people to understand, talk about, and look after their mental health — because every feeling matters and no one should face challenges alone.

Youth Workers: Here For You, Here With You

How London Tigers youth workers support young people’s mental health every day.

Mental Health Isn’t a Destination, It’s a Journey

Practical reflections for young people and youth workers on looking after mental wellbeing.

London, UK — To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, London Tigers is reaffirming its commitment to the emotional wellbeing of young people by delivering a series of supportive conversations and activities with both young people and staff across its programmes.

Throughout the week, London Tigers youth workers will be creating safe, inclusive spaces where mental health can be talked about openly and without judgement. Sessions will focus on helping young people understand mental health, recognise early warning signs, and develop the confidence to talk about how they are feeling.

Alongside this, staff and volunteers will receive guidance on how to identify concerns, provide appropriate support, and confidently signpost young people to professional and specialist agencies when additional help is needed.

💚 London Tigers recognises that mental health is not a destination, but a journey — and that talking, listening and consistent support can make a life-changing difference.

“We see first-hand how important it is for young people to feel heard, supported and understood. Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity to remind young people that they are not alone, that their feelings matter, and that it’s okay to ask for help.”

— London Tigers Spokesperson

By normalising conversations around mental health, London Tigers aims to reduce stigma and empower young people to look after their emotional wellbeing, while equipping staff with the tools and confidence to respond effectively and safely.

The organisation works closely with local and national support services to ensure young people can be referred to the right help at the right time, reinforcing the message that no one should face mental health challenges alone.

As London Tigers continues to celebrate over 40 years of supporting young people, Mental Health Awareness Week serves as a powerful reminder of the organisation’s values: respect, inclusion, support and empowerment.

If you are struggling, or need someone to talk to, support is available. Reaching out is a sign of strength.
