A Vision Realised: Collaborative Regeneration

The transformation of the 8.2-hectare site, once known as the Southall Municipal Sports Ground, has been a long-standing priority for Ealing Council. After a failed public sector redevelopment bid in 2002, the need for regeneration became even more apparent when the park’s old sports pavilion was demolished in 2007. The existing sports facilities, despite being somewhat dilapidated, continued to draw a significant local following, especially the running track and cricket facilities.

In 2009, Ealing Council took a fresh approach, seeking a community partner to manage the new sports facility. London Tigers, in partnership with local charity The Southall Alliance, emerged as the chosen community-driven initiative from a pool of applicants.

A Hub of Inspiration: Facilities and Features

Our sports facility Southall, now known as the London Tigers Sports Complex, has become a hub of inspiration for the community and sports enthusiasts alike. It boasts an array of facilities, including grass pitches, 3G pitches, cricket pitches, a multi-purpose hall, a locker room with showers, and cricket nets. The facility’s diverse offerings extends beyond sports; it hosts fitness camps, football and cricket tournaments, cultural events, and much more.

The Spikes Bridge Park facility, with its floodlights, allows for year-round play, making it a popular choice for those seeking both casual kickabouts and organised team matches. Convenient, free parking is available, with the best availability during daytime hours. What’s more, our pay-as-you-play booking system ensures accessibility to all, regardless of membership status.

A Beacon of Inclusivity: For All Ages and Abilities

Our commitment to inclusivity extends to all age groups, ethnicities, and genders, especially those in marginalised communities. We actively engage with women and girls, offering tailored programmes like ‘Girls Aloud’ holiday sessions and ‘Wildcats Centres’ football sessions exclusively for girls. Furthermore, our women-only healthy lifestyle programmes like Zumba and Boxercise cater to the diverse population of boroughs like Westminster, Tower Hamlets, and Ealing.

We also prioritise inclusive activities for older individuals and disabled people, offering chair-based exercises and other tailored programmes to ensure that everyone can access our facilities.

Shaping the Future Together: A Community Hub

The future of the London Tigers Sports Complex is bright, driven by community involvement and a commitment to making it a true community hub. In addition to sports, our pavilion welcomes a wide range of activities, from health and recreation to education. We encourage year-round and evening use, ensuring that this fantastic facility remains accessible to all.

The Spikes Bridge Park project’s success has been recognised by Sport England, which commissioned ‘The Community Sport Asset Transfer Toolkit’ based on our initiative. This toolkit aims to guide other organisations working on similar sports facility projects, emphasising the positive impact they can have on communities.

Join us at the London Tigers Sports Complex, where sport, community, and opportunity unite to create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
